Web addresses & custom domains

pro

Where your website lives — your included Apolaris address, connecting a domain you already own, letting Apolaris manage your domain's DNS for you, and checking whether a name is free.

Your public website always has a home: an address under the Apolaris domain that comes with the website builder. From there you can level up in either of two ways — connect a domain you already own, or let Apolaris manage your domain's DNS so you never touch a DNS record yourself. Everything on this page lives under Choose web address (step 2 of the Website tracker).

Your included Apolaris address

Every published site is served at yourbusiness-web.apolaris.net, where yourbusiness is the label you pick.

  1. On the Website page, select Choose web address.
  2. Type the label you want — Apolaris suggests one from your business name.
  3. The availability check runs as you type and shows the full address you'd get.
  4. Save.

Labels are lowercased and normalized, each belongs to one business only, and names the platform uses internally are reserved — the check tells you honestly when a label can't be yours. Certificates are automatic; there is nothing to configure.

Only your public website is served on this address — your CRM, staff portal and admin pages are never reachable there. That separation is enforced by the platform, not by a setting you can get wrong.

Connect a domain you own

Already own www.yourbusiness.com? The Use your own domain card connects it, certificate included, while your Apolaris address keeps working as a fallback.

  1. Enter your domain. Apolaris accepts it with or without www — visitors reach you on both forms, and the one you enter is the one search engines see.
  2. The card shows two DNS records to add at your domain provider, each with a copy button: a TXT record that proves the domain is yours, and a CNAME that points the domain at Apolaris.
  3. Add them at your provider, then select Check now. DNS changes can take from minutes up to a day; the card tells you per record what has been seen and what hasn't.
  4. Once verified, the certificate is issued automatically and your site starts answering on your domain. Visitors who open the Apolaris address are redirected to it, so you never have two competing copies in search results.

Disconnect at any time — your website instantly returns to its Apolaris address and nothing else changes.

Connecting a domain only touches the two records you add. Your email, and anything else your domain does, keeps working — Apolaris never asks you to move the whole domain for this option.

Let Apolaris manage your DNS

The zero-DNS-work option. Instead of adding records yourself, Apolaris hosts your domain's DNS entirely:

  1. In the We manage your DNS for you card, enter your domain and select Start.
  2. Apolaris creates the DNS zone and imports your existing records first — your email and anything else on the domain keep working exactly as before.
  3. The card shows two nameservers. Set them at your domain's registrar (replacing the current ones) — this is the only step you do, and you do it once.
  4. Select Check now. Registrar changes can take up to a day. Once the nameservers are seen, Apolaris finishes the setup itself: website records, certificate, and the same redirect behaviour as a connected domain.

From then on there is nothing to maintain. If you later stop, your website returns to its Apolaris address; the DNS zone is not deleted automatically — it may be carrying your email — an operator retires it with you deliberately.

Not sure which option to pick? If you (or your IT person) are comfortable adding two DNS records, Connect a domain you own is the lightest touch. If DNS records are not something you ever want to see, managed DNS is built for you.

Check whether a name is free

Don't have a domain yet? The Don't have a domain yet? card checks availability: type a name and Apolaris checks the exact domain plus common endings (.com, .mx, .com.mx, .net, .es).

  • Available — the name looks free to register.
  • Taken — someone already has it.
  • Unknown — check at a registrar — some registries don't answer availability queries; the honest answer is to check where you'd buy it.

Register the name at any registrar you like, then come back and connect it with either option above.

Buying inside Apolaris

Where the platform has enabled it for your account, an available name also shows a Get price button: you see the yearly price up front, confirm, and Apolaris registers the domain for you — it is born straight into managed DNS, so your site is live on it without any DNS work at all. The registration is invoiced to your organization like any other charge, and the invoice (with a PDF) appears right on the order. If you don't see the button, the option isn't active for your account — the search and both connect options above work for everyone.
